Lucia Felgate Play Therapy

I am a qualified Play Therapist working in Hampshire, providing therapy for children aged 4 - 11 through Hampshire Children’s Services, local schools and Adoption Support.

What is Play Therapy?

Play Therapy is, as it sounds, a child-centred, play based form of therapy.

Play can provide children with a more natural language to explore life’s challenges. Communicating through story and metaphor can provide a degree of removal from difficult feelings and experiences that can feel safer and less intense for children.

Who is Play Therapy for?

Play therapy can be a beneficial approach for a wide range of children facing various challenges. To offer a few examples, it can help children dealing with family changes, low self-esteem, trauma, behavioral issues, and emotional regulation. Through engaging in play within a therapeutic relationship, children have the opportunity to explore thoughts, feelings and experiences in a safe environment. Play Therapy is particularly effective for children aged 3 to 11, but its benefits can extend to older youth as well.
